Applebee’s Annual Breakfast with Santa Benefitting Toys for Tots

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar® locations in New Jersey today announced that its annual Breakfast with Santa fundraiser will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. The fundraiser will support the efforts of the U.S. Marines Corps Toys for Tots program, currently in its 66th year, which distributes new toys to underprivileged children to brighten the holidays and deliver a message of hope.

Guests can enjoy breakfast compliments of Applebee’s along with goodies, raffle tickets for door prizes and the opportunity take a photo with Santa Claus. Tickets to Breakfast with Santa, which can be purchased by calling or stopping by a local Applebee’s, are $10 each, and advanced reservations are required as seating is limited. Children under the age of 2 are admitted free of charge. Applebee’s will raise additional funds by selling paper “gift packages” for $1 each, which will be displayed in the restaurants. All of the proceeds from the Breakfast with Santa events and “gift package” purchases will be donated directly to the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with the great people at Toys for Tots.  In addition to providing toys to underprivileged children during the holidays, I am also proud of the level of commitment and effort of our employees,” said Ed Doherty, chairman and chief executive officer of Doherty Enterprises.  “The enthusiasm of our employees shines through to our guests – which helps us maximize overall contributions.  A core value of our company is to give back to the communities we serve, a vision that the Toys for Tots program shares, and we believe there isn’t a more important time to make a difference than during the holiday season.”

Over the past 15 years, Applebee’s locations owned and operated by Doherty Enterprises, which owns 100 Applebee’s restaurants across New York, New Jersey, Florida and Georgia, have raised $3.2 million for the Toys for Tots initiative, helping to spread holiday cheer to over 230,000 deserving children.

“We are fortunate to have had Doherty Enterprises as a corporate sponsor for the past fifteen years,” said retired Marine General Pete Osman, the President and CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.  “There are very few corporations who have been with us as long or have been as generous as they have been.  It all reflects upon the concern and interest that Ed Doherty shows in his community.”

In addition to Toys for Toys, Doherty-owned Applebee’s restaurants provide support for charitable causes in the communities they serve year-round under the leadership of CEO Ed Doherty. In 2013, Applebee’s raised over $800,000 for local charities through 361 events.
