44 TH ANNUAL COMMEMORATIVE 18 MILE RUN TO TAKE PLACE ON LBI

The 44th Annual Long Beach Island Commemorative 18 Mile Run will take place on Sunday, October 9 and begins at 10:30 a.m. in Holgate, the southernmost point of LBI. 1,300 Bike Your Park Day Rides with Over 9,500 Participants Already Registered

Over 1,300 rides with nearly 10,000 participants in all 50 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., and several countries are already registered for the first-ever Bike Your Park Day on September 24. Organizers expect people to register hundreds of additional rides in the next several weeks.

Bike Your Park Day encourages people to ride to and within parks and public lands in celebration of the National Park Service (NPS) centennial, National Public Lands Day, and Adventure Cycling’s 40th anniversary. 8th ANNUAL STEEPLECHASE DISTANCE RUN BENEFITS STEEPLECHASE CANCER CENTER AT RWJ SOMERSET

David Vail ran the 5K race at the Steeplechase Distance Run three years ago with his wife, Linda, to mark their 40th wedding anniversary, finishing first in his age category. This year, he will be helping to lead the event’s 5K walk to mark another personal milestone – the one-year anniversary of his diagnosis with lymphoma. Kids Travelin’ Tennis Lessons

Freeholder John C. Bartlett, Jr. announces that the Ocean County Department of Parks & Recreation will be conducting a “Travelin’ Tennis Program”.  These tennis classes include instructions, use of tennis rackets and balls.  Pre-registration is mandatory, rain days cannot be rescheduled.  The fee is $14.00 per child and all classes are held Mondays through Thursdays. Take a Ride in the Pines on Saturday, June 4 in G. Larry James Legacy Fund Bike Ride at Stockton

Cyclists, recreational riders and community members will have the opportunity to pedal through the scenic Pinelands for scholarships at Stockton University’s 8th Annual G. Larry James Legacy Fund Bike Ride on Saturday, June 4.

Easy T’ai Chi

Freeholder John C. Bartlett, Jr. announces that the Ocean County Department of Parks & Recreation will be conducting an Easy T’ai Chi program for adults looking to gain flexibility and strength with a gentle workout. Somers Point Announces Trail of Two Cities 20th Annual Walk & Run November 7

The 20th Annual Trail of Two Cities 5K Walk & Run from Ocean City, NJ to Somers Point, NJ takes place on Saturday, November 7 starting at 8 a.m. Proceeds from the event will raise money for the Somers Point Foundation for Education and Ocean City Children’s Programs.
The 5K Walk & Run will begin at the Ocean City Transportation Center, 9th Street & Haven Avenue, Ocean City, NJ and will end at John F. Kennedy Park in Somers Point, NJ. The entire course will be police patrolled and the race-bound lane of the bridge will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event.
