Manahawkin Elks Clambake

The Manahawkin Elks Lodge #2340 at 520 Hilliard Blvd, Manahawkin, NJ  will hold its annual Clambake on Saturday, 7/22/17 from 1pm to 5pm.
Over 10,000 clams will be ordered Fresh and steamed clams, clam chowder, chicken, corn, burgers, hot dogs and beverages will be available.

Flag Day Celebration at the Manahawkin Elks Lodge #2340 on 6/11/17

The Flag Day Service we conduct is a reminder that the Flag has been a symbol of freedom, liberty, and opportunity.  It prompts us to remember the sacrifices that have been made, and continue to be made, by the men and women of the US Armed Forces, around the world.  The Flag is also a tribute to police and fire departments nationwide. The purpose of the Elks service is to honor our country’s Flag, to celebrate the anniversary of its birth, and to recall achievements attained beneath the Flag’s folds. OCEAN PEDIATRIC DENTAL OPENS SECOND OFFICE IN MANAHAWKIN

Ocean Pediatric Dental, which has been serving young patients in the area for 15 years, will celebrate its official opening of its new, larger, whimsically-designed office in Manahawkin on June 1. The event will be from 6 to 9 pm at the new office 1301 Route 72W.  Pediatric Dentistry is the specialty of dentistry that focuses on the unique dental and oral health needs of infants, children, and teenagers. SHERIFF’S OFFICE SCHEDULES EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN HEARINGS

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled two public meetings with municipal officials to help formulate an updated disaster response plan.

The All Hazards Mitigation Plan (HMP) is required by state and federal agencies in order for municipalities to be eligible for certain disaster relief aid, said Ocean County Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy.

Manahawkin Elks Holds Record Breaking Event

On April 14, (Good Friday) the Manahawkin Elk’s Lodge # 2340 held their annual Fish Fry at the Lodge. This year’s record breaking event served nearly one THOUSAND dinners made up of fresh fish and scallops. Special thanks to the staff at Viking Village, Barnegat Light, and the crew of the commercial fishing vessel, “Ms. Manya”, skippered by Captain Pete Dolan, and the Larson family, the boat owners, for donating the seafood.
Approximately 60 Elks, lead by Elk John Barrett, volunteered to prepare, cook, serve and clean-up making this year’s fish fry an extremely successful event.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to NJ State Elks’ Camp Moore, “A summer Camp for our Special Children”.

Master Gardeners to Offer Tips at Ocean County Library Branches

The Ocean County Library will host a series of Master Gardener programs during April and May at four branches.

Master Gardeners, trained and certified by the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Ocean County, will give horticultural information and gardening tips at the following branches:

•  Toms River Branch, 101 Washington St., 732-349-6200, Rutgers Master Gardeners of Ocean County: Swing into Spring, Wednesday, April 19, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Enjoy a display of spring flowers, receive information on summer insects, and the services offered at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Center.
