Light It Up Blue Campaign

Several facilities of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will be lit up in blue lights on April 2, 2014 as part of World Autism Awareness Day.

Autism Speaks is holding its 5th Annual Light It Up Blue Campaign to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day this coming Wednesday.  On this day, landmarks, schools, homes, businesses, colleges and universities around the world will turn their lights blue to help shine a light on autism.

Locally, the Grand Hall column lights in the Campus Center have been set to blue already (though it is much more noticeable in the evening.)  Also on the main campus in Galloway, we have scheduled a TV, LED  and portal slide to run the entire day with the campaign logo.

The Manahawkin instructional site at 712 East Bay Avenue will be lit up in blue with rope lights in the windows and blue balloons around the site.

The Carnegie Center in Atlantic City is also participating, with two blue flood lights.

For more information on Autism Speaks, contact Jaclyn Renner: []

Renner has said:  “We are not only raising awareness when we light up your campus, the International Space Station, South Pole, Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Empire State Building, we are also helping build understanding of what it means to be affected by autism. And, we are building compassion for those with autism and their loved ones.”

Manahawkin TLE Wins Center of Excellence Award

The Learning Experience® (TLE®), the country’s fastest growing early learning academy for children six weeks to six years old, is pleased to announce its Manahawkin center as a recipient of its annual Center of Excellence Award. This recognition is bestowed upon the top 10 percent of TLE® centers nationwide that have scored 85 percent or higher on their annual evaluations.

Each year, TLE® Centers are evaluated by TLE® Board of Directors on customer service, student retention, curriculum delivery, TLE® branding and overall performance. Based on this criteria, TLE® Manahawkin was among the top of 120 centers nationwide and chosen to receive the Center of Excellence Award.

“TLE® Manahawkin is emblematic of our company’s proven academic franchise system, and we are pleased to honor the center with our annual Center of Excellence Award,” said Mr. Richard Weissman, TLE® President. “The TLE® Manahawkin franchise owners, management and teachers’ hard work and dedication to following our system and methods has directly resulted in this Center standing out as a top performer and educator.”

TLE® is a family-run business whose founders have over 30 years of experience in dealing with business and proprietary education. Under Weissman’s leadership, the company has become the country’s fastest growing early learning academy providing cutting edge accredited curriculum tailored to meet the needs of each individual student as well as tried and true methods for the success of TLE® franchisee owners.

“We are honored to receive such an esteemed recognition from TLE® corporate office,” said Coleena Lieter and Shaleen Riker, Co-Owners of TLE® Manahawkin. “The ownership and staff here strive each day to not only ensure that our students receive the best learning experience possible, but to also find ways to involve our community in everything we do.”

TLE®’s unique proprietary curriculum, L.E.A.P. (Learning Experience Academic Program), features computers, math, music, drama, dance, songs, arts & crafts, foreign languages, the award-winning early reading program “Fun with Phonics,” and specialized enrichment programs which are all included in tuition. Social programs such as manners & etiquette allow children to practice positive decision-making and build self-confidence. Additionally, as the first nationwide preschool to offer a philanthropy-focused curriculum, TLE® teaches the core tenants of selflessness, generosity and giving and encourages students to apply such values in the classroom, at home and in the community.

St. Patrick’s Day Event at Stockton’s Manahawkin Instructional Site

One man’s tale of surviving Ireland’s 1845-1849 potato famine will be enacted at Stockton College’s Manahawkin instructional site this St. Patrick’s Day, Monday, March 17, 2014, along with a special bagpipe presentation and lunch.

Dr. Richard O’Meara, an instructor in the School of General Studies at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, will enact “The Times of Joy,” one man’s story of surviving the disastrous failure of Ireland’s potato crop in 1845. The crop failure in successive years was caused by late blight due to a water mold. The resulting famine left about 1 million dead and caused an estimated 2 million to immigrate to America and elsewhere.

The free public event celebrating Irish heritage begins at 11:30 a.m. at the instructional site, 712 E. Bay Ave., Manahawkin, with lunch to follow.
