In partnership with Fulfill (formerly, The FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties), United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties is offering free personalized tax preparation at its Financial Success Center (FSC) in the Freehold Raceway Mall. Housed in the Meridian Community Resource Center, the FSC provides free, comprehensive resources under one roof to help people move from financial difficulty to economic well-being.
New Jersey high school students are invited to share their musical drug prevention messages as part of the 2018 New Jersey Shout Down Drugs music competition, organized by the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey.
In its 14th year, the contest encourages high school students to create songs with original music and lyrics that contain a strong peer-to-peer prevention message. Whether the song is R&B, rock, jazz, hip hop or soul, the goal is to spread the importance of avoiding substance use. Ocean County Clerk Scott M. Colabella said a newly signed state law will help residents from being overcharged for certified copies of deeds by private vendors.

The Special Olympics New Jersey returns to the Wildwoods to kick off 2018 with an icy plunge into the Atlantic Ocean during the annual Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday, January 13 at 1 p.m. on the beach behind the Wildwoods Convention Center.
The Polar Bear Plunge is a FREE event for spectators to watch, but Plungers must raise $100 in pledges to participate in the event with all proceeds going to Special Olympics New Jersey. Early registration is available online by visitingwww.njpolarplunge.org. Additional registration and donations will be accepted on-site the day of the event.
