Kramer Hall to Host First Literary Life Open Mic Night Featuring Author, Emari DiGiorgio

Kramer Hall and the Murphy Writing Center of Stockton University will host a new event, titled Literary Life Open Mic Night featuring award-winning poet and Stockton Professor, Emari DiGiorgio.

DiGiorgio will read from her new book, “The Things a Body Might Become” followed by an open mic hosted by Peter Murphy, founder of Murphy Writing.

Members of the public are invited to share their poetry or prose with an audience of like-minded people in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Each poet is able to share one poem for up to 2 minutes, while prose writers are invited to read for up to 3 minutes.

Non-writers are also welcome to visit and enjoy listening.

About the Presenter & Host:

Emari DiGiorgio: The author of “Girl Torpedo” (Agape, 2018), winner of the “Numinous Orison, Luminous Origin Literary Award,” and “The Things a Body Might become” (Five Oaks Press), Emari DiGiorgio is the recipient of numerous prizes, fellowships and residencies. She is a Professor of Writing at Stockton University, a Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Poet and also hosts “World Above,” a monthly reading series in Atlantic City.

Peter Murphy: The author of seven books and chapbooks including “Stubborn Child,” a finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize and “Challenges for the Delusional,” a book of writing prompts, Peter Murphy has received dozens of awards and fellowships and has led hundreds of workshops for writers and teachers.

Cost:  Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
