Mary’s Place by the Sea announced today that the organization will be participating in a holiday fundraising challenge hosted by Newman’s Own Foundation and online crowd funding platform Crowdrise.
The Holiday Challenge is an online fundraising competition taking place between November 21st, 2017 and January 3rd, 2018; Newman’s Own Foundation will be giving away $500,000 in funding and matching donations to participating charities. Mary’s Place by the Sea will compete against other non-profit organizations to raise funds, with the opportunity to win thousands of dollars in bonus challenges along the way.
Michele Gannon, President and Co-Founder of Mary’s Place by the Sea, stated, “This means that when our supporters donate to Mary’s Place through the CrowdRise platform during the challenge, their gift has the opportunity to be doubled, even tripled! The impact that their gift will make on our mission is indescribable.”
Like Newman’s Own Foundation has developed its own “recipe for giving” (they have gifted non-profits with over $500,000 over the past 34 years), Mary’s Place by the Sea has perfected its own “recipe for love” since its founding nine years ago. Mary’s Place continues to help women with cancer along their healing journey, offering love and support during this challenging time in their lives.
“Our recipe for love would be nonexistent, if it were not for the support of our Mary’s Place community. We are asking the members of our community to help us spread the word, and make the Holiday Challenge the most impactful online fundraiser for Mary’s Place by the Sea, to date,” said Maria McKeon, Vice President and Co-Founder of Mary’s Place by the Sea.
Here are just a few ways that you can help:
- Join the Mary’s Place by the Sea Team on CrowdRise: https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/team/marysplacebytheseagiving2017
- Spread the word and encourage friends and family members to donate to Mary’s Place by the Sea on #GivingTuesday (November 28th). The organization that raises the most money in donations ON November 28th will receive $50,000! You can also promote the Holiday Challenge and donate throughout the length of the campaign, November 21st through January 3rd.
- Host a Fundraiser: host a “jeans day” at your company, a donation-based workout at your gym, or donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of a particular good or service in your place of business. We’ll leave the creativity up to you! Contact Mary’s Place by the Sea Director of Communications, Kara Grimes (firstname.lastname@example.org) to let her know about your fundraiser.
- Mary’s Place by the Sea will be promoting this challenge with the hashtag #MPRecipeForLove on social media. Help Mary’s Place spread the word by telling your social media friends about YOUR recipe for love, and using the hashtag. Your recipe for love might be a homemade dinner with your family, a yoga class strengthening and stretching your body, a 10-minute meditation at the beginning of the day, whatever feels right for you! Share your recipe online and tell Mary’s Place by the Sea why you are supporting the Holiday Challenge!
“We are grateful for the wonderful community where we are planted, and look forward to taking on this challenge with you, for the benefit of our guests!” said Michele Gannon.
